Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need X-rays?
We need current X-rays to diagnose your case and develop the appropriate treatment plan. If your referring dentist has taken X-rays, please bring a legible copy or have them forwarded to us by mail or email.

What will my periodontal treatment cost? What will my dental insurance cover?
Once Dr. Even-Hen completes your examination, he will form a treatment plan and the corresponding fees. The fees vary, depending on the case and which dental insurance you have. If you have dental insurance, the staff will call the company to determine your benefits, how much coverage you have left, and what your co-payments will be. If the insurance company denies or rejects a claim or deems the treatment as unnecessary, you are responsible for payment in full.

Which insurance companies do you participate in?
Dr. Even-Hen is a PPO participating periodontist only in the Edison office with Aetna, Metlife, Guardian, Cigna, Delta Dental, United Healthcare, Horizon, and some dental access plans that are reduced-fee plans. He is also a provider in the Aetna HMO dental plan, which requires a referral slip from your Aetna HMO general dentist .

Do you offer any payment plans?
We participate with Care Credit which, if approved, allows you to pay for treatment with 0% financing over a 12-month period (for procedures that cost $2000 or more). We are very flexible regarding payment options and we will work with you to get the treatment you need.

When do I go back to my general dentist?
Dr. Even-Hen will work closely with your general dentist. Once the work at our office is complete you will be directed back to the referring doctor for restorative care, cleanings, and semi-annual examinations. Usually after surgery, Dr. Even-Hen will provide the initial cleaning or two but then recommend alternating cleaning appointments between the two offices. In situations such as minor soft tissue grafting and crown lengthening procedures, there will not be a need for an increase in cleaning frequency and the general dentist will do all the necessary cleaning appointments.
